Burt Jenner Instagram – We finished!!! We struggled with brake issues from around mile 80-280, where we would lose all brake pressure with no warning… My absolute stud of a navigator @liveactionpete fixed them and then we started flying! We were having a blast till a bearing in the 3rd member let go with 50mi to go. I thought our day was over, but the amazing crew at @3_bearsracing got the truck fixed so we could finish.
When I got out of the truck I was told one of our chase trucks was run off the road between Ojos and Ensenada and rolled 100yrds down a mountain side. I was so delirious from racing it took me a second to wrap my head around what was being said. It was a very sobering moment… I’ve read the Race Dezert post that talks about how dangerous chasing the race is, how it is more dangerous than being in a race car… I just couldn’t believe it was our crew, our team… Somehow everyone in the truck survived with minor injuries, which I am still in disbelief about.
The crew at @3_bearsracing was awesome, after what was already a long day, when I believed our day was over, they never skipped a beat and fixed the truck on the side of the road… no complaining, no negativity, just a desire to keep moving forward and get to the finish no matter what… I have not seen a group of men work together like that since hanging out with @warriorbuilt232 , something that still sticks with me to this day. I feel lucky to be able to hang around people like this.
Thank you to Charles Dorrance for letting me drive the 2nd half of the race in his beautiful truck…
And thank you to @polarisrzr for building such an amazing machine, I did over 1,200mi of prerunning (sometimes at a ridiculously fast prerun pace) and had zero problems with zero wrenches turned on a stock car, its amazingto see the UTV progession over the years… congrats to them and @caydenmacc on ANOTHER utv win
