Christopher Sean Instagram – Last weekend, actor Christopher Sean (@mrchristophersean) who recently starred as Kenji Sato/Ultraman in ‘Ultraman: Rising’ and director-producer Jane Wu (@janewu_626) of ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ joined us at the Level 5 Salon for an event hosted by IGO Geek (@igogeek_la15) to get hands-on experience in a game of Go!
IGO Geek is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional Japanese board game of Go. The event provides a unique opportunity for people to learn about the culture, etiquette, and even a direct lesson from top Japanese professionals Kenro Osawa (4-dan) and Atsushi Tsuruyama (8-dan).
Go is one of Japan’s oldest board games, well-known for its simple rules yet complex play. It has been featured across many mediums in Japan, including the novel ‘The Master of Go’ by Nobel-prize-winning author Yasunari Kawabata to hit manga, ‘Hikaru no Go’ and it makes an appearance in the Netflix animated series ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ as well.
IGO Geek works to encourage people not to be intimidated by its complexity and create a place where Go enthusiasts in America and Japan can gather as a community. To learn more about IGO Geek, visit their website at https://www.igogeekusa.com/!
