Envy Peru Instagram – I am incredibly proud as a Peruvian/Dutch queen to be one of the first drag queens ever entering the UN during the 2024 High Level Political Forum (HLPF), a political event where world leaders discuss the UN’s sustainable development goals. This is a beautiful opportunity to make my voice heard.
It’s important to me to speak on a global level about how I envision the future as part of the LGBTQIA community. There are too many places worldwide where being queer is forbidden and sometimes criminalized. I find that shocking in the year 2024.
This event was organized by COC Netherlands, UN Women, UNDP, and the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UN and hosted by me.
Alongside with activists from Armenia, Kenya, Namibia, Nepal, Uganda, and Zimbabwe we shared stories from our lives and dreams of an inclusive future
Drag is a form of self-expression and political activism that contributes to diversity and inclusivity and embodies the concept; Leave no one behind. Drag has the capacity to challenge socioeconomic and political narratives. Organizers hope that bringing drag to the UN can be a symbol that reminds us that this world needs a queer future of care. ❤️🌎
