Ethan Fineshriber Instagram – I came out of a trick last night with my knee pointing in a direction it shouldn’t. Emergency room doc took X-rays and said my knee had lots of previous damage showing abuse to my knee. I’m 17. I’ve been tricking since I was 7. I’m not ready to hang up my tricking hat yet but it was humbling to hear that my body is showing the effects from a decade of tricking. I will forever have to wear a brace when I go back because I was told it will now be more prone to coming out of the socket. That’s not the reason for my post. The most impactful thing I had happen to me last night at the session was the love shown me by the guys that were there, most of which, I didn’t know before last night. They showed me care and compassion and helped me get to the hospital. This community we have all helped to create is special in ways only those in it know and have felt. There’s an understanding and respect among us all that comes into every session that builds us up when succeed as well as when we fail. I am nervous about returning once I heal but to give up those friendships and the feeling we all have when we walk into a gym together and begin battle with our bodies and the floor, that’s something that is too big a loss to comprehend giving up. I will be back.
