Greg Furman Instagram – In 2017, I was at a festival in San Diego and had an opportunity to get up front while Norm performed. Most of the crowd was wildly uncomfortable (which you can imagine if you’re a fan). Up close, though, you could see the amusement on his face. He was having a blast. He was an expert at firing jokes way over everyone’s heads. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Afterwards, I didn’t want to bother him since there was a group of people trying to get autographs so I thanked him with a small wave from a distance. Through the crowd, he made eye contact with me, said thanks, and then continued to look back in my direction before mouthing the words “do you smoke?” I looked at my friend and we shrugged “yeah,” which led to Norm instructing security to let us through as we walked towards the back of the building outside where the trailers were. We sparked up a few joints and talked for over an hour. The man had the heart of a Lion. He was kind. Considerate. No bullshit. He listened intently and left me with valuable perspective. This is my experience with him. It was brief, but meaningful. To say he will be missed would be an understatement.
