Bit of a long video clip this week, will learn to edit videos next week, thank you for sticking with me while I learn all this stuff, it’s fun! Which is appropriate I guess as this week’s review is The Artist’s Way, published over 30 years ago and well on it’s way to being a modern classic.
You don’t have to be someone who thinks of themselves as a ‘creative’ to benefit from this book. The voyage of self-discovery or re-discovery it takes you on is applicable to all and a lot of the ground it covers is covered in other self-help/spiritual guides. Chapters include: Recovering a sense of safety, Recovering a sense of abundance, Recovering a sense of and so on. There is lot of work looking at sub-conscious beliefs and patterns, our core values – aligned or misaligned – with who we want to be or are, and things from our pasts that have shaped or blocked us.
Running through the book is the idea that creativity and spirituality are intrinsically linked.
It’s practical, easy to follow, with clear instructions, useful and enjoyable tasks and exercises ( such as the now iconic Morning Pages) and a clearly defined path. If you commit to the 12 weeks you will learn a lot about yourself, and at the very least it will help you rediscover the fun and joy and play in living life creatively – what’s not to love.
