She’s my President!!!! I can’t wait for America to discover what a great patriot she is and how much she has to offer the country.
Backstage at THE TONY AWARDS with my sis who I never get to see. Love you, lady
Charlie and I had a lovely day in the pool.
Watching Biden refuse to face facts and Trump claiming to be god’s chosen one I can only conclude that the most destructive force on earth is the male ego.
I just completed my latest quilt made almost entirely on my Gammill Long Arm machine. It’s a sort of autobiography of my inner and outer aspects told through the imagery of a side show. Came out a bit bigger than planned! 102″ x 120″. Hope you enjoy seeing it.
Life with BoBo the American Blue Bay Shepherd. 8 months old and still growing.
Losing Chita was hard for all of us who knew and loved her. Making this quilt felt like a visit with my friend. Please note the broken heart. I put it there to represent the accident that shattered her leg. It was an injury like that would have ended the dancing career of most but not our Conchita!
I had the honor of presenting LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD to my darling friend Jack O’Brien and he brought the house down with a brilliant speech. If you can find it online, do so. it’s that special as is he.
I took a quilted sneaker making class at COTTON CANDY FABRICS and…. I can’t believe it but… Here’s the left one done. And it’s freakin’ comfortable! Of course I used Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Better get busy and finish the right shoe
Sometimes size counts.
Theater.
And here is my newest. It’s a tree. I made it sewing fabric from strips and then I couched with cotton yarn over the whole thing. I kind of love it. It has a lot of personality. Please note the whole background is quilted in stars and clouds. 104” x 104”.
Decided that I needed a change so I pulled this quilt that I made last year out of the pile and put it on the bed. I love it. Nothing fancy about it, but the fabrics are all so wonderful. They are African wax prints. Inspirational. I can’t wait to see what dreams come my way as i sleep under this.
Crazy matinee!!!! Drove up to Hartford to see the fabulous touring company of FUNNY GIRL. At intermission all of the audience’s phones began to ring with emergency warnings about a tornado watch. And then the rains came down! And I mean DOWN! Before Act 2 could start, the orchestra pit flooded as did the first rows of the theater…. Unable to predict the weather, the rest of the performance had to be cancelled. BOO! But I got to go backstage and visit with the magnificent cast. What a marvelous day when you get to hug Melissa Manchester, Katerina McCrimmon and the rest of the company. Don’t miss this tour as it comes through your town. DC is next and then Philly, I think. Love to catch up with them again soon.
And what did you make this weekend? This one is totally fashioned of scraps from other quilts I’ve been making. I love that as a challenge. I call it, ‘RUNNING HOT AND COLD”. 102″ x 102″
What an experiment! First I sewed a ton of leftover patches made by Bobbi Penniman, Sarah Bond and Liza Prior Lucy to form the quilt top. Fun but… So I decided to quilt over the entire surface in thick RED chenille yarn. I used a programmed design to give it a manufactured look. Not sure what I think of the result but it’s definitely more exciting seeing it in the room rather a small photo. At 105″ x 105″ it’s delightful to the touch.
Oops, I did it again. Made another pair of sneakers thanks to the class I took at Cotton Candy Fabrics. Love ’em.
As those who’ve been following along know that Liza Roos Lucy sent me a box of orphan blocks and scraps. I’ve been using them for my last few projects and I’m starting to reach further down. This quilt was a challenge I gave myself to use a different color palate than normal. Of course, in the end, I caved and used 3 of the Mer-men created for another quilt but now even they are used up and I will move on. If anyone wonders how I turn these out so quickly… they are not so quick. I put many hours into my work. Pieced on my Bernina, I quilted it with Aurifil 12 wt variegated thread on my Gammill long arm and here it is. I think it came out great. 84″ X 84″
This is a tiny detail of a king sized quilt I just finished. I covered the entire center section in cording scribbles using my Gammill long arm. Quite an adventure!
following a brilliant suggestion from fabric designer Brandon Mably I swapped out the black laces to these on my homemade sneakers. LOVE the joy of color!
Finished the pair. For those interested, here is Joan’s book with the directions….https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Feet-Making-Quilted-Sneakers/dp/B0CKZT28XX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3DKM6ND08T4MS&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.nQUIsR7G9_gOZN1RcwmusxfPyVjghT5-PLgPGPHT4ynccFOU_1DXfqXGTs2VPwaPs4mogBj4fB5jSI7hPty23w.RyFDWW2lUCcM42r2ht4iWBMDSxTvowqzgfujjBq2Or0&dib_tag=se&keywords=happy feet quilted sneaker book&qid=1720916375&sprefix=happy feet quil,aps,109&sr=8-1
Here’s the quilt in its entirety. But you have to zoom in to see all of the designs scribbled in cording on it.
BoBo met Yofi, Lisa Kuller’s new leo puppy. They will be great friends, i predict.
I’ve been at my GAMMILL LONG ARM again! Totally pieced, quilted and couched on the long arm. I used a heavy cord for the couching and so the quilt weighs as much as the dogs depicted. The dogs are, of course, CHARLIE my Leonberger and BOBO my American Blue Bay Shepherd. King size, as usual.
