Laith Ashley Instagram – I was 9 years old when I saw the Matrix, and even then this scene with Agent Smith and Morpheus, resonated heavily. I have always been hyper aware of the darkest and ugliest part of the human experience even if I didn’t have the language to articulate it. Maybe it was growing up in NYC, and seeing what I saw in my household. As much as my parents tried to protect me and my brother; it was in our faces and we lived in the thick of it. No veil could shield me from what I already knew.
All that to say, FREE Falasteen, Congo, Sudan, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and all peoples who are living with foot of imperialism on their necks. How sad it is that we so easily destroy our environment, annihilate whole ecosystems, genocide entire communities of people the ruling class deem uncivilized, dirty, or barbaric, while they are the ones who truly display those very characteristics. It seems it’s profit over everything, and it’s vile and disgusting.
Note: the purpose of this post is not to promote misanthropy. Just sharing my experience with this particular scene in the film. I know this is not true of indigenous peoples. | Posted on 03/Jun/2024 00:44:59
