Lyle Lovett Instagram – Legendary musician and actor Lyle Lovett wears his own personal Pure Open Road in Alabaster. Shot on location at the iconic @gruenehall in Gruene, Texas, where Lovett played some of his earliest gigs as a musician.
Over a career that spans more than four decades, @lyle_lovett solidified his status as one of country music’s most iconic and iconoclastic voices, crafting songs that defy categorization, borrowing from jazz, gospel, Texas swing, and the blues to create a hybrid sound that’s all his own. A born-and-bred Texan who grew up outside Houston in the town of Klein, Lovett combines a veneration for tradition with a healthy sense of irreverence, as witnessed by his playful and often mischievous lyrics. It all comes from an authentic place, he says: “I write about things that feel real to me, things that really happened, things I really see. I don’t have to write songs. I just have to write them down.”
Those songs have taken Lovett from the Grammys to Hollywood, including memorable turns in four Robert Altman films. While he’s been known to wear a Prada suit with his Stetson and custom-made cowboy boots, he’s also a longtime rancher and rider (with the scars to prove it) and remains a true Texas gentleman to his core, with an ever-expanding personal collection of Stetson Open Roads. His first was inherited from his grandfather in 1979. His most recent? The Limited Edition 20X in Butterscotch that he picked up just last fall. “My grandfather always wore an Open Road to church,” Lovett says. “So to me, the Open Road was always the dress version of a cowboy hat. It has a cattleman’s crease in the crown and a conservative brim, so you’re not showing off.”
