Mark Duplass Instagram – A true story (warning, a little corny).
I have been on set more than usual lately. Working very hard, long hours. The exhaustion is setting in. And because I’m a human being, the “grass is greener” mentality has started to rear its head. I’ve been thinking how much I miss the quiet, simple days of camping and backpacking in nature. And how once I get back to that lifestyle, then I’ll be happy! A way of thinking that we all know is… not helpful.
So this past week I’ve tried a different approach. When I can, I sit in my backyard. It’s not the Appalachian Trail by any means. But it’s pretty quiet and there are nice olive trees and some rosemary. Little birds and squirrels. And I try to bring my backpacker’s mindset to this seemingly subpar microcosm of the woods I love so much. And… it’s kinda working.
And then, this morning, as I was drinking my coffee and looking at nothing in particular. A gorgeous multi-colored hawk flew over my yard and landed in a nearby tree. The kind of hawk I normally only see once I’m deep in the trails. And he just sat there and hung out with me for a little bit.
As always, if you find yourself heading someplace scary, call/text/chat @988lifeline 24 hours a day. You belong here. There’s a way forward. | Posted on 07/Jul/2024 22:28:08
