Oleg Tinkov Instagram – I started my first business, the electronics store “Tekhnoshok,” in 1991. From the very beginning, we aimed to create an innovative product unlike anything else on the market (such as delivering purchased electronics directly to customers’ homes). Next were “Darya” dumplings, which did not stick together in the package due to a new deep-freezing technology. The following business was “Tinkoff beer”, the first unfiltered beer in Russia packaged in 6-pack.
Finally, a bank without branches. Here, we achieved innovation on a global scale – creating the world’s first digital bank. We invented deposit and investment products that the world now copies. Storonsky (Revolut) is a genius, but many of their products were invented at “Tinkoff.” We managed to create a unique “customer-centric” culture and deliver innovative and exciting products. It’s a pity that Tinkoff ended; the best have moved to Salmon (the Philippines) and Plata (Mexico). I continue to consult both and am confident that the Asian and Latin American markets will soon see interesting banking products.
