Paul Reubens Instagram – Remember Brandon Hall, the Pee-wee fan with a teddy bear made from his childhood Pee-wee pajamas, and who proposed at a drive-in screening of “Big Adventure” last summer? Well, we just learned another chapter of his story—the Pee-wee’s Scooter chapter!
In his words, “I was born with a cyst in my femur. No one knew it until I was 3 or 4 and I fell off a bike and broke my leg. During that time, we were making many trips to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for procedures and check-ups. After breaking my leg, I spent the rest of the summer in a lower body cast.”
He continues, “It was after one of my many check-ups in Pittsburgh that we stopped at a store called LA Joe’s in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. I’m sure my parents probably bought the scooter for me as a way to cheer me up from all that I had been through in the past few months.”
But the story doesn’t end there. “A few years ago, I attended the Steel City Con in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. A vendor had the scooter for sale. It was one of the ‘grail’ Pee-wee items I wanted to add back to my collection. We made a deal, and I ended up leaving with the scooter. The store where I got the original is long gone, but coincidentally, I drove by the spot where it was once located on my way home with the scooter nearly 30 years later.”
Here are Brandon’s #ThenAndNow photos—a testament to his passion for Pee-wee!
