Pedro Andrade Instagram – If the Amazon was a country, it would be the sixth largest nation on Earth. One-third of the trees and 20% of the fresh flowing water on this planet are inside the Amazon. We are talking about over 350 ethnicities, 180 idioms, and a thriving ecosystem that might be completely gone in just a couple of decades.
This week, a new detailed study warned us that deforestation has, once again, reached another record-breaking high.
The area destroyed was five times larger than that same period in 2021.
Last year, I had the privilege of spending months – alongside a brilliant team – deep inside the Amazon exploring the human aspect of arguably the most environmentally important place on Earth.
During that period, I learned that the destruction of the Amazon would result in an unimaginable catastrophe of apocalyptic proportions, but – to my surprise – there is, in fact, still a little bit of time to save the lungs of the world.
