From a bride to a widow, beauty mask to college girl, sensible to sexual, I didn’t doubt for a second that Michaela wouldn’t be able to represent what a woman is today as my muse for this issue ; she is free, creative, confident, inclusive and approaches life without judgement, which is what makes her so intelligent and pure. It has been so special to see how much Michaela gave to this project, not only as an actress but as an artist. Her dialogue with Inez and Vinoodh was pure creativity unfiltered – it reminded me of when I was first starting out in this industry where there were no budgets, just purity and art, and boundless energy. This is one of the moments I am most proud of in my life, which fills me with a lot of emotion. Thank you Michaela for not only agreeing to be a part of this issue, but for teaching me and inspiring me every day – I am so proud to call you a friend and a big part of my family🖤
BBF Issue 8 is out! I am so honoured to have been invited to be the first guest editor and creative director of Boy.Brother.Friend – an independent magazine which pushes to lift the voices of the under represented. Through this issue, I wanted to use my platform and network to invite some of the most interesting and exciting voices making a mark on creativity today by giving them the space to showcase their art, and to give BBF the awareness it deserves. The ambition for this issue was made possible thanks to @kkobi1 and his trust in me. Thank you to @michaelacoel who accepted to collaborate as the muse for my issue, @inezandvinoodh who helped translate my vision, and the community of friends and family who contributed so selflessly to our pages with so much love. BBF issue 8 has been an enormous privilege to work on and a testament to true modern collaboration. I believe among our pages we are unearthing the future of creativity – I cannot wait for you all to discover it.
