Riyadh Khalaf Instagram – Today’s heartbreaking news that a non-binary 16-year-old was beaten to death in an Oklahoma school bathroom reminded me of this clip from my docu-series Queer Britain. In light of the attack, I think the experiences shared here are particularly poignant. Imagine fearing for your safety, or even your life, every time you need to visit a public space that should be so mundane and thoughtless. This interview was carried out 7 years ago, but sadly the lived experiences of people like Sarah and Harry still ring true in 2024. If anything, things have gotten worse for the the trans and GNC community. This LGBT History Month check in on your friends, colleagues and family members who may be going through experiences like this, petition your MPs, support queer charities, queer-owned businesses and amplify voices within the community.
