Roland S. Martin Instagram – Just got an email alerting me that one of my @tamu journalism professors, Bob Rogers, died on July 4. Bob was a helluva teacher. He wasn’t an academic who had a theoretical understanding of journalism. He actually worked in the business. He was on old school journalism editor, wearing short sleeve dress shirts with ties. He would mark up the copy like they did in newsrooms. Bob once told me that he treated and taught me differently than the other students. He said many of them wanted to go into PR. He knew I was focused on the business. He was tough on me; the man was hard to please. But I loved it! Bob, thanks for sharpening me like you did the pencils you always carried.
