Roland S. Martin Instagram – Had a 15-hour flight from Ethiopia to Rome to DC Sunday/Monday. Landed at 10 am yesterday. Battling sickness. I’m allergic to smoke and man, it got me big time in Ethiopia. I normally can catch it in time by using Flonase or AstePro, but the incense smoke was STRONG! It hit my nose and was quickly in my throat. Had flashbacks to when I was an altar boy in Houston! Congestion, lots of coughing. Lost my voice. I did liquids for 24 hours, and nothing but fruit and water last 2 days. Got lots of rest. On the flight back, I swear I had 15 bottles of water and six cups of hot ginger tea!!! Hit @jhoodmartin before I left and she had the whole regiment ready when I got home: humidifier; my PureMist Steam Inhaler; Mucinex DM for the cough; Halls cough drops; and Vicks. As y’all can see, this ain’t my first rodeo. It has knocked me off the air for a week a couple of times. But back on the plane. Off to Dallas for the @akasorority1908 convention. Hosting their golf tournament and covering VP’s speech. And yes, got my whole regiment with me. Won’t be able to do the show tonight. Voice not strong enough. Been down this road many times.
