Scott Porter Instagram – People ask if I got to design #GumballMask on @maskedsingerfox. No. BUT I did get to add one little element to the costume. A few of you might’ve notice a Blue Band on Gumball’s right hand. It’s the only element that isn’t symmetrical on the costume.
Why does Gumball have a blue band? Because I have one. I almost never take it off. It’s the blue band of @hdsanational, a blue band that says “Family is Everything” and stands as a sign that I’m a fighter in the battle against #HuntingtonsDisease.
I dedicated my performance of #WideOpenSpaces to my wife and spoke to a diagnosis that could affect her later in life if we don’t find a cure. @kenjeong had some good guesses but I was talking about HD. A genetic neurodegenerative disease that is best described as having Alzheimer’s, ALS, and Parkinson’s all at once.
May is Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month and I humbly ask all of you Masked singer fans that read this to share this. To go to HDSA.org and learn more about HD. And to please help us raise awareness to battle this thing so that the hundreds of thousands of those battling HD can find a way to explore all the wide open spaces they should be able to.
