This exhibition by Theaster Gates portrays a dynamic fusion of Japanese tradition and African American culture stemming from Gates’ origin of Chicago and Mississippi. This cultural hybridity is expressed through multiple styles of media through out the exhibition – ceramic works, architecture, music, performance, fashion, and design, to name a few.
