So freaking cool to see the ideas and stories in my book brought to life in season 2, episode 7 of one of my all time favorite TV shows- @thebearfx (!!) I often talk about how Unreasonable Hospitality can become the most beautiful (and gracious) addiction… how there is nothing more energizing than seeing the look on someone’s face when they receive a gift you are responsible for giving, and how when you’ve felt that once you want to feel it over and over again. Watching them capture that exact moment when Richie gets hooked over the deep dish pizza overwhelmed me with emotion. Just SO FREAKING COOL. Working alongside Chris Storer and the entire INCREDIBLE cast and crew over the last year has been one of my life’s great experiences- I CANNOT wait for June 27 💪🙏❤️
It’s pretty rare, in my experience, that success brings out the best in someone—but that’s exactly what happened with James. The more he had, the more generous he became; the more he knew, the more he wanted to share it. When his work life was taking off more spectacularly than it ever had before, he re-centered his beloved family, and the accolades that came rolling in for his incredible work only made him more humble, more tender, and more vulnerable. James had a huge heart, and getting everything he worked so hard for just made that part of him bigger. I can’t believe I’ll never shake my head again at a pair of his over-the-top Nikes, or hear him say, “Whassup, Will Guidara. . . .” Just three weeks ago, the two of us talked about him coming to speak at the Welcome Conference so he could share some of his hard-won wisdom, and it absolutely breaks my heart that we’re not going to see him get up on that stage. The only consolation I’ve got is that he shared so much of himself when he was alive. His inspiration Biggie told us to “spread love,” and James sure did. I’m just so glad that nearly two decades of friendship meant I got to watch it happen. Sending so much love to Kelly, Gavin, and Avery ❤️
