Yevgeniy Malyarchuk Instagram – Here’s a film review for the Movie “Stupid” (дурак). This movie completely blew me away! It’s a story in which the producer managed to depict the mentality of a post soviet Russian mentality. It’s a story about an honest person (Nikita) who finds out that a communal building (low income housing) due to poor maintenance by the government officials- will wall within 24 hours. He measures a 3 inch crack that goes all the way from the foundation to the top floor and starts ringing the bell to all the public servants. He reaches all the way to the Mayor (Mrs. Nina Gangalo) who has a birthday celebration with all of the corrupt government employees present. Upon inviting himself to this event he stumbles into this hell festival with all of the most rotten people there having a time of their life will 800 people living in that apartment building are about to die. Long story short – the corrupt government says that people in this apartment building don’t even deserve to live – they are all trash that should be eliminated anyway. They understand that it’s their fault , but they say that they need to make a living somehow. The producer depicts by calling the movie stupid and basically the main character Nikita being stupid that’s in the olden times stupid was defining a person who had limited mental capacity- but nowadays in Russia that’s the person who thinks about others first and about themselves later. We can see later in the movie that Nikita was almost killed by the government officials because he didn’t want anyone to know that they knew about this catastrophe happening. They tried to hide their direct participation in this. He manages to survive. Instead of running away from that city and saving himself and his family – he decided to run to the apartment building that is about to fall and save all the people himself. I’ll leave the ending I told in my review because I feel that everyone has to see it for themselves. The moral of the story is that we should help people regardless of who they are and if they’re asking for the help or not because often times people don’t know that they need the help or they can have help, and it’s up to us the society to help!✨ | Posted on 09/Jun/2022 20:42:57
