It’s a fact that during the 2016 election, Russian bots targeted Black people, especially Black men, with misinformation to further sow racial discord and create narratives about presidential candidate Hilary Clinton. VP Kamala Harris isn’t officially the nominee but I already see the misinformation circulating about her record as prosecutor and district attorney. I will not pretend that she had a perfect record, and didn’t make mistakes. But making VP Harris the face of Black male incarceration is a gross false narrative. She did not go out of her way to convict Black men for marijuana, or other offenses. She did not jail a single parent, Black or otherwise, for truancy. In fact, during the tough-on-crime 90s era, she was considered to be one of the more progressive prosecutors. And during her time as Senator, she was deeply involved in spearheading criminal justice reform (along with Sen Cory Booker)
