Barbara Niven Instagram – Today we honor and say THANK YOU to the Veterans of this country, past and present. You are heroes, and we are a grateful nation. This year I have the incredible honor of not only meeting and spending time with some of our brave vets, but I will also have the honor of flying in this Huey helicopter for a #VeteransDay parade.
Our Chief Pilot and Crew Chief flew this Huey during the Vietnam War, (this particular one was one of the longest serving helicopters in the Vietnam War). In 2003, they found the shell of the chopper in a scrap metal heap at the Sacramento Sheriff. It was fully restored to its 1968-1972 combat configuration during the war. This iconic helicopter is now a flying “museum” and, according to Vertical Magazine, the most impeccably maintained helicopters they have ever seen!
We will also be joined by Torque –who has the most Huey flying hours of any dog in history! I know this will be an adventure of a lifetime, especially getting to be with and honor these veterans who served. (And I’m so glad to be able to honor the four-legged veterans as well).
Thank you to all of you who have served and sacrificed for our country. You put your lives on the line for us, and you do not hear or feel our gratitude nearly enough. God bless you and God bless America. ❤ 🇺🇸
