Clea Shearer Instagram – Today marks my sixth surgery since being diagnosed with Breast Cancer two years ago. And it’s a new milestone because I’m getting my ovaries out! Don’t need ‘em, don’t want ‘em. Nothing personal to my ovaries, but I am hormone positive and will do whatever it takes to reduce my risk of cancer returning. Plus, it means I won’t need my monthly infusions anymore, which is very exciting.
For the time being, my uterus is staying put. She’s behaving, and removal doesn’t really impact my risk of reoccurrence. So my doctors felt that an additional surgery, that comes with a host of potential complications, wasn’t necessary.
I’d love to say my surgery days are behind me, but I’ll be back in November for lucky number seven! So grateful for the incredible care I receive at Vanderbilt, and most importantly, the love I receive from my family, friends, and all of you. Thanks for being on this journey with me. Your support means the world.
*UPDATE*
The surgery went very well! I woke up in quite a bit of pain, but it’s manageable. Poor @johnshearer has to be my shadow so that I don’t do anything stupid…like lift something, or sit in a chair I can’t get up from alone. And my mother is here, so my recovery team is back together again! 💕💕💕
