Debbie Millman Instagram – My brilliant friend @sethgodin has been sending out a daily newsletter for as long as I can remember, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. I’ve been collecting and saving my favorites for nearly a decade and when Seth found out, he asked me if I would be interested in curating his upcoming annual page-a-day calendar for @andrewsmcmeel publishing. I, of course, said yes immediately and then Seth asked if I might be interested in hand-lettering the cover. I said yes again, but also asked if I could hand-letter every day as well. He thought it might be too much to hand letter quotes for 365 days, but I insisted. I then spent the next two months drawing and re-drawing and re-drawing some of Seth’s best quotes. It was hard work, but honestly it was pure joy. The calendar went up on Amazon yesterday and immediately made it to the #1 spot on Amazon’s new releases which is all due to Seth’s post about it that morning. Working with a person you love and admire and who also teaches you so much in every conversation and encounter is one of life’s great privileges, and I am so thankful and grateful for everything Seth is and stands for in this world.
