if you are a woman who has not read the awakening, it has probably been one of the most impactful books I have ever read in my life and it has stuck with me FOR YEARS. an incredibly beautiful fictional novel from the perspective of a woman sent to the sea by her husband. for decades it has been upheld as a stunning example of feminist literature. it examines gender roles, bodily autonomy, self-ownership/freedom, mental health, sexuality/desire, and the concepts of marriage/motherhood.
I would HIGHLY recommend and of course, it always creates a fully immersive experience to read it by the sea 🌊🌙
