Elissa Slotkin Instagram – Tonight’s speech from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the National Archives is a tale of two visits: During his first trip to Washington last December, he was welcomed to the Capitol with open arms — and captured here — to address a joint session of Congress on Ukraine’s fight for its freedom.
Now, nine months later, Speaker Kevin McCarthy rejected President Zelenskyy’s request to address a joint session, and is reportedly considering stripping Ukraine funding out of this year’s budget, to appease his far-right flank.
It’s just another example of the dysfunction we’ve seen from this majority, and even in the same week that we’re barreling towards a government shutdown at the end of September.
