Did you know that according to Irish legend the Irish are descended from the daughter of an Egyptian Pharaoh exiled to Ireland?! Apparently an Egyptian princess named Scotia (according to Lebor Gabála Érenn) was the mother of Goidel Glas, the eponymous ancestor of the Gaels (the Irish) While other sources tell us that Scota was actually the wife of Geytholos (Goídel Glas), and that they became the founders of the Scots and Gaels, after they were banished from Egypt and ended up in what later became Ireland !
