Joana Vasconcelos Instagram – The National Museum of Woman in the Arts’ recent exhibition ‘The Sky’s the Limit’ pushed boundaries with awe-inspiring sculptures by female artists. One such piece was “Rubra” by Joana Vasconcelos.
More than just a light, “Rubra” is a celebration of traditional feminine craftsmanship. Stitching, sewing and knitting take centre stage, with handmade wool crochet, lace, sequined fabrics and delicate beaded embellishments adorning the piece. These elements are intertwined with the smooth, bulbous shapes of Murano glass, a 1,500-year-old art form, in a stunning fusion of history and contemporary design.

A recente exposição do National Museum of Woman in the Arts “The Sky’s the Limit”, ultrapassou todos os limites com esculturas inspiradoras de artistas femininas. Uma dessas peças foi “Rubra” de Joana Vasconcelos.
Mais do que uma simples luz, “Rubra” é uma celebração do artesanato tradicional feminino. Os bordados e a costura ocupam um lugar central, com croché feito à mão, rendas, tecidos com lantejoulas e delicadas contas a adornar a peça. Estes elementos são entrelaçados com as formas suaves e bulbosas do vidro de Murano, uma forma de arte com 1500 anos, numa fusão deslumbrante de história e design contemporâneo.
