Kari Byron Instagram – I had the honor of speaking at Girls Build Solutions and celebrating the Million Girls Moonshot Flight Crew this week for STEM Next Opportunity Fund.
I am so incredibly impressed with all the young trailblazers I met there. The generation coming up today makes me so hopeful for our future. This was a bit of my advice to them:
As you succeed, remember where you came from and who helped you along the way. Become a mentor yourself. The best leaders are those who develop other leaders.
Yes, go get your seat at table but once there, make sure to bring seats for others. I like to say a rising tide lifts all ships.
We are stronger together.
I know it isn’t easy. Almost every successful woman I know has felt insecure or intimidated and heard that negative self talk in their head at some point. The key is to turn off your inner critic and turn on your inner coach. Take up space, stand tall and just go for it. As long as you stay authentic, true to yourself and lead with empathy, you will be the leader you strive to be.
We in the STEM community are here to support and learn from each other. Go have the conversations, make the connections and rise together.
