Recently, the government has increased the interest rate from 8% to 8.2%!
✅Features:
👉You can deposit a minimum of Rs. 500 and a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh in a financial year.
👉Deposits must be made for 15 years. However, the scheme matures after 21 years.
👉 Investments up to Rs. 1.5 lakh are eligible for tax deduction under Section 80C.
👉Interest earned and maturity proceeds are tax-free.
✅Eligibility Criteria:
👉Parent or legal guardian can open an account for a girl child below 10 years.
👉Girl child must be a resident Indian.
👉Maximum of two accounts can be opened per family, with a third account permitted for twin girls.
✅Application Process:
👉Visit the nearest branch of a bank or post office and fill out the application form.
👉Submit the completed form along with the necessary documents.
👉Pay the first deposit amount, which can range from Rs. 250 to Rs. 1 lakh.
👉The bank or post office will verify the application and payment. If all details are correct, an SSY account will be opened in your name.
