In the previous two episodes we tried clearing this ground in our locality which was covered in trash and did make good progress only to see that it had gone back to its original state in just a few days. So we realised that we had create a drastic difference and do something more radical. It is said that the cleaner a space is, the more careful we are in dirtying it. We wanted to challenge the idea of “kya point hai saaf karna ka, firse ganda hi hoga.” So this time we decided to take it up a notch and create more momentum for our project and reached out almost aggressively (hahaha) to the BMC to help us out with people and equipments. The BMC staff was actually extremely supportive! Thank you to BMC (k-ward west) Assistant Commissioner Prithviraj Chauhan, Manas Janjiral and Parmar saheb who have actively participated in this cause. We are super elated to see the difference and form an association with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for future clean drives. I guess this also made us realise that a society stands upon communities coming together to collaborate. The BMC since the past 32 weeks has been taking clean drives very Saturday so maybe you could also put in requests for curtain areas that you feel need some extra attention. Active citizenship and working alongside those that keep the society running can truly make a difference because an evolved society in an involved society.
