Sam Morton is the musical project comprising of singer, songwriter & award winning actor Samantha Morton alongside music producer and artist Richard Russell (Everything is Recorded).
The collaboration came about after Russell was struck by Morton’s musical selections on Desert Island Discs. The two connected afterwards, leading to an intense and fruitful period of musical collaboration.
Their debut album Daffodils & Dirt, released in June, is inspired by Morton’s difficult childhood growing up in care. It typifies their unique sound, blending spoken word storytelling couched in a raw autobiographical lyricism with an avantgarde style of production that melds elements of trip hop, new wave and dreamy synth pop.
