Jon and Andrea James are unwavering advocates for social justice. Andrea, Founder and Executive Director of The National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, dedicates her life to ending the incarceration of women and girls, using her personal and professional experiences to drive change. Jon, her biggest supporter, played a crucial role in their mission, working tirelessly alongside Andrea to build the foundation of their impactful organization, which continues to uplift and transform communities.
In 2022, Jon unexpectedly passed away after returning home from the annual FreeHer Conference in Detroit, Michigan. Jon was a mainstay at the annual conferences and National Council events, leaving an irreparable hole within the James family, The National Council, and the movement family for all who knew and loved him.
