Valerie Bertinelli Instagram – I’ve always been really good at beating myself up about my past and how I could’ve done better. I became a master at judging myself. Judge, jury, and executioner.
I don’t wanna do that anymore.
I want to lead a full authentic life, with my heart open to experiencing everything.
No more judging.
Accepting who I am, flaws and all.
What makes me, me.
I get the distinct feeling that most of you that follow me here want the same things from your life.
As a child, we develop tools to make us feel safe in an unsafe world. As an adult those tools make our lives more challenging and can prevent us from opening our hearts fully.
For example, eating or drinking to numb/avoid the pain. And maybe if you take away those numbing tools then you start avoiding feelings altogether because they’re just too painful. You disengage, isolate. Ya know, just as an example. 😬
When we don’t allow ourselves to feel the pain, we can’t allow ourselves to get to the other side to where we can feel the joy. It’s just too damn scary to feel the pain. And what if that joy isn’t on the other side? How am I supposed to trust that?!
I believe there is always joy and relief on the other side. At some point, we just have to slay that dragon and trust that joy will meet us there because the way we’ve been going about it just isn’t working anymore.
What do you think are tools are that once made you feel safe, but that no longer service you? That may even make your life more challenging.
How do you think you could make your internal life fuller? Without judging yourself? I’m curious.
I think we’ve built a really lovely community here and I love when you all talk amongst yourselves, the last post being a great example of everyone sharing their journey. It’s been inspiring.
When we work together and share our stories, we can lift each other up.
Let’s keep inspiring each other. | Posted on 03/Jul/2024 12:33:05
