Caption : Well here we go, I’m now part of the pump crew! I’ve had my Omnipod Dash fitted. I’m excited but also terrified at the same time. I feel like I’ve been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes all over again. A lot for me to absorb but looking forward to seeing how this incredible piece of technology will hopefully help me even more with my control and my future living as a Type 1 diabetic. Caption : Here’s a very honest and open post from me… For years I have had a HUGE hang up about my arms. I always thought my arms were too BIG and held too much muscle that if I lift weights I will “bulk up”. I covered them pretty much up all the time on days out and nights out.. until today. Today I am going out with my arms out and this Is a massive step for me. This is all because my mind set has changed, I’ve realised as I’ve got older my body has changed and I am proud of who I have become. A month ago my very good friend and actually the woman who changed my life @diabetic_health_coach_ set me up a fitness and nutrition plan which suits me and my lifestyle, she knows what I want to achieve and where I wanna be. Caption : My first Fluorescein Eye Stain Test. Not gonna lie I felt a little apprehensive about this test today but after chatting to a few of you on here I felt reassured. A few months before Christmas the hospital had noticed a little sack of fluid in my left eye very close to my pupil, it is quite common to get problems when you have had type 1 diabetes as long as I have. My Doctor decided to do further investigations on this which has included the fluorescein eye stain test today. My goodness I have never had so many bright lights flashing in my eyes, it wasn’t comfortable at all and had to take a lot of breaks due to my eyes non stop watering , but the best thing was is the two lovely nurses who got me through it today, we were making jokes saying that Imagine I’m watching David guetta in Ibiza as the constant multi colour flashing lights were going on to take pictures and scans of my eyes and I decided to start singing ‘I’m good yeah I’m feeling alright’ by David guetta to help me get through it😂Everything appeared to be the colour orange for a little while after which felt extremely strange! So although today was a bit uncomfortable with the lovely NHS team around me and me being my daft self we managed to add some light hearted humour into this which got me through it! Oh and ignore the state of my face I don’t wear much make up for these kind of things as my eyes water so much 😂 I’ll keep you posted when I get my results when I’m back in the eye hospital in a few weeks . My whole point of sharing this was to be real with you guys, ill always be transparent about my diabetes and hope any of you with it feel less alone 🩵Likes : 1575
