However, sometimes when reflecting about all the things I didnā€™t know when I was younger, that I do now, i see how little things have truly changed since then, and I think about everyone who looks ā€œdifferentā€. Everyone who has been told that they arenā€™t ā€œwhite enoughā€. Arenā€™t ā€œblack enoughā€. Arenā€™t ā€œthis enoughā€ or ā€œthat enoughā€. Not really feeling like thereā€™s much to stick around for. With the film Madelines Madeline, I believe many people in their lives experience what Madeline experience(d), even if they were/are never in the world of performance. How many people have felt or have been exploited at some point in their lives? How many people, when exploited, then have a loss of identity? Or a sense of self that seems to be missing? How many people have been taken advantage of, for the sake of being ā€œhelpedā€? How many people walk around with their heads held DOWN because of a fucking diagnosis? Why is it that there needs to be a month that dictates that now mental health is suddenly important? Just like holidays. Is it just another marketing scheme? Just another way to ā€œraise awarenessā€ to something we all inherently know about but donā€™t take enough time out of our lives to talk about or check in with or put in a little extra energy? Or do we just not care? Do we not care about the things that donā€™t revolve around the center of our universes so, it does not exist? Iā€™m just trying to understand it. Is it that we live in a world where all that matters is being narcissistic? And vain and self-obsessed that we canā€™t comprehend that each year there are more and more humans who need help? We are told ā€˜if you need help ask for itā€™ but, when you do people shame you. No one is there to help you so what do you do, but feel like you canā€™t ask for help. Feel like youā€™re not doing enough? What is enough(In a world where everyone is in competition with each other)? How about, learning to love yourself and then learning to love others? Every day we should check in with ourselves and see how we are feeling. Not just 1 month out of the 12 in a year. How do you wish to live your life? Ruled by what you see on social media? By a medical diagnosis? By labels slapped on you by different people that may have stuck with you all throughout your life? We are the captains of our own lives-we steer the ship and decide the path we lead. The choice is ultimately ours. Is it that we live in a world where all that matters is being narcissistic? And vain and self-obsessed that we canā€™t comprehend that each year there are more and more humans who need help? We are told ā€˜if you need help ask for itā€™ but, when you do people shame you. No one is there to help you so what do you do, but feel like you canā€™t ask for help. Feel like youā€™re not doing enough? What is enough(In a world where everyone is in competition with each other)? How about, learning to love yourself and then learning to love others? Every day we should check in with ourselves and see how we are feeling. Not just 1 month out of the 12 in a year. How do you wish to live your life? Ruled by what you see on social media? By a medical diagnosis? By labels slapped on you by different people that may have stuck with you all throughout your life? We are the captains of our own lives-we steer the ship and decide the path we lead. The choice is ultimately ours. Until then, nothing will change. *important to note: I am speaking about the world/society at large and no specific group or person-thank you*

Caption : This month is the month dedicated to mental health awareness, yes? However, why? Why is it that there needs to be a month that dictates that now mental health is suddenly important? Just like holidays. Is it just another marketing scheme? Just another way to ā€œraise awarenessā€ to something we all inherently know about but donā€™t take enough time out of our lives to talk about or check in with or put in a little extra energy?
