Jessica Knoll Instagram - Franklin’s sister, Sydney Knoll-Cortese, was born 11/13/23 at 9:11am, making her a double Scorpio šŸ‘¹. Thank you so much to our surrogate, Macy, for keeping her safe and strong these last nine months. Maybe one day I’ll write more, but for now I have Sydney’s early childhood education to worry about. See slide four for details.

Jessica Knoll Instagram - We’ve lost Beatrice, our favorite thing in the world. I got to hold her and tell her I loved her as she passed, to thank her for loving me and napping with me and making my heart bigger and showing me how maternal I can be. We loved everything about her—her body, her hunger, her attitude, how she had to be involved with everything with us all the time, on us, touching us, butting her head into bathroom doors to guard us while we peed and showered and then her body was so bodacious we could never get the shower door back open. One time she jumped up on the table and ate a whole cake. When we had parties she would stalk the house like a predator, panting and wild eyed, bc food was around and she had to have it. She loved her daycare but ignored other dogs so I always wondered why she dragged me inside when we got there and came home so exhausted. Recently, I found out they let her hang out and snooze behind the front desk most of the day bc the dog area was ā€œtoo much for her.ā€ She was so ridiculous and I’m shattered she won’t ever bask in the sun or get her lip stuck on her teeth again. Snuggle up in the nook of my knees. Refuse to walk and eat first and second breakfasts and dinners. She lived like she would live forever and she was such a fighter and I’ll always take that with me. Thank you for loving her too, it brought me pure joy to share her with you on here. If you have a favorite memory of her I want to hear it. Talking about her and looking at pictures of her is all I want to do right now. šŸ šŸ’”

Jessica Knoll Instagram - This is one of those life-is-a-wild-effing ride moments. My first review in The New York Times, by none other than Patton Oswalt, whose late wife Michelle McNamara penned THE perennial account of the Golden State Killer, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark. Here I am, at Skylight Books in 2018, to hear Patton speak about Michelle, who wrote about victims of violent crimes like human beings, something that was still avant-garde even just a few short years ago. I couldn’t dream of a better way to kick off publication day, and I had wonderful dreams last night after I finally got my dirty martini 😊

Jessica Knoll Instagram - We’re thrilled to be the first to reveal the cover of #BrightYoungWomen, the incredible new novel from @jessicaknollauthor, coming this October 2023! Inspired by the real-life sorority targeted by America's first celebrity serial killer, Bright Young Women opens on a Saturday night in 1978, hours before an act of implausible violence changes the life of sorority president, Pamela Schumacher, forever. Over the next four decades, Pamela pieces together a mystery that will upend the lore of the so-called brilliant serial killer from Seattle, proposing a new narrative—that it was the women whose lives he cut short who were the exceptional ones. Jessica Knoll Instagram - Some happy news. Meet Franklin, the new man in my life. I sat down in the grass and he crawled into my lap and lightening didn’t strike us dead, so Beatrice must approve. We have some travel coming up so we won’t take him home until we are back on the west coast. His foster mommy said he’s the sweetest boy and she’s happy to keep him until then. Once again, @socalbulldogrescue was a dream to work with. They have so many precious doggos up for adoption right now, and they are not one of those rescues that just wants to foist any dog on you. They really take their time to get to know you and make sure it’s true love. The house has been so lonely without Beatrice plodding around it, and we are so excited to welcome Frank the Tank home.

Jessica Knoll Instagram - In 2023 I faced down two major fears—turning forty and parenthood—and neither has been as terrible as I envisioned they would be. I lost my best girl who I miss so much but I gained a new lil best buddy. I went back to my college for a week where I wrote 25k words of my next book in the chapel library where I used to cram for finals. I published a book that was an instant New York Times best seller, a NYT notable book of 2023, an indie next pick, an Amazon editor’s pick, a Goodreads choice nominee and the recipient of four starred reviews from all four of the trades that are not usually very nice to me! I’m really proud of what I accomplished this year and feeling excited for 2024. I can’t wait for Sydney to laugh and for her to recognize Franklin who is desperate for her attention, and to get back to book four and developing Bright Young Women for series šŸ¤ž also excited for the Ina lasagna I’m making tonight and the Lambrusco I’ll drink whilst doing so

Jessica Knoll Instagram - Bright Young Women is an instant New York Times best seller. Guys, thank you. Publishing a book is an immensely humbling and vulnerable experience and I am SO grateful to everyone who preordered, showed up to an event, tagged me in a lovely review, the A team @marysueruccibooks, agent extraordinaire @a.seddy, and my badass Sunshine Sachs girlies. Is 3pm too early for a martini?

Jessica Knoll Instagram - Mystery research trip reveal: Tallahassee, Florida. For a (now) California girl born and raised in the northeast, the panhandle of Florida was completely foreign territory for me. I learned so much from my trip to this gorgeous campus. I wrote a lot of this book house bound during the height of the pandemic, and getting to stand under the centuries old moss hung oaks I had only been able to read about felt like meeting a celebrity.

Jessica Knoll - 5.7K Likes - We’ve lost Beatrice, our favorite thing in the world. Talking about her and looking at pictures of her is all I want to do right now. šŸ šŸ’”

Talking about her and looking at pictures of her is all I want to do right now. šŸ šŸ’”

Jessica Knoll - 5.7K Likes - We’ve lost Beatrice, our favorite thing in the world.

Jessica Knoll - 3.9K Likes - We’re thrilled to be the first to reveal the cover of #BrightYoungWomen, the incredible new novel from @jessicaknollauthor, coming this October 2023! You might recognize #JessicaKnoll as the New York Times bestselling author of #LuckiestGirlAlive and #TheFavoriteSister, viral essayist, or as the writer and executive producer of the recent film adaption of Luckiest Girl Alive starring #MilaKunis.

Jessica Knoll - 3.1K Likes - In 2023 I faced down two major fears—turning forty and parenthood—and neither has been as terrible as I envisioned they would be.

Jessica Knoll - 1.5K Likes - Mystery research trip reveal: Tallahassee, Florida.
