Nandhini Madesh Instagram - The Girlfriend — Where do I even begin!

I usually don’t prefer writing movie reviews, because whether a film becomes a hit or a flop, the team puts in their 100% effort to create something that will reach and satisfy the audience.

But today, after lunch, I decided to watch The Girlfriend — and this one truly deserves to be spoken about.

This is a film every girl can deeply connect with. The way @rashmika_mandanna emotes feels like a mirror to what so many women actually go through.
 From The moment she’s been Introduced as “Vikram’s lover,” , the doubt that strikes her when Durga questions her at the game centre, the realisation during the shower scene, the breakup where words fail — every bit of it is something that every women have felt at some point.

My favourite moment or part of the film was the To-Do list scene — how her own priorities slowly turn into Vikram’s, and the moment she erases them… that was her wake-up call, her realisation that she was slipping back into a traumatic cycle again.

the minute details like even in fight she doesnt forget her dupatta but in the final she doesnt even care on the duppata as it doesnt make any difference was mind blowing

Rather than portraying female friendships as jealous, they highlighted womanhood beautifully through a friend who embodies Durga’s strength.

When he said ‘You’re just like my mom, take care of yourself,’ the way she felt it—and the way seeing his mom reflected that same trauma of what his mother was experiencing in the name of "stereotype" was beautifully highlighted .

The pain of wanting to speak up but worrying it might hurt someone, the constant self-sacrifice, the emotional dilemma — the film portrayed all of this beautifully.

Unlike many films this one truly deserves special appreciation for showing, with clarity and honesty, what a woman needs and what she silently endures.
