Swarnamalya Instagram - These pictures are to share the joy of wearing a beautiful beautiful beautiful double adigai by @sthree_creatives my friend Srimathi Mohan sent this to me with so much love. And I found the perfect occasion to wear it to my Guru Sarasama’s anniversary celebrations yday. It stood out, shining. I loved how it sat so perfectly on the neck and can’t wait to wear it again and again. Sthree is making amazing sarees and reviving traditions. The adigai left us mainly because of how it wouldn’t sit properly on the neck. But Srimathi’s work with master craftspeople has revived it to its rightful glory. I love it ❤️

Swarnamalya Instagram - Sarasa Natya Mala - a celebration of our guru Kalaimamani K J Sarasa, fondly known as Sarasama. My dear friend and sister @kavitharamu performed. It was an emotionally pensive performance. Her choice of pieces were so sublime including the Illayaraja composition of Pudumaipittan song. Sarasalaya is home. And it eas so comforting to be home yesterday and watch my dearest friend and lovely artiste Kavi perform. As always @shanmughasundar has organised this year’s festival too so beautifully. Above all, we all know Sarasama is watching us from above with approval. We can almost hear her tongue-n-cheek comments❤️🙈

Swarnamalya Instagram - RAKTI - Collaborations in Pleasure. Through the prism of the 21st century, our history is often made to look like it’s punctuated by religious conflict and differences. But there were others copious ways, artistic and literary ways in which people connected and bonded. Religion was NOT the phenomenon upon which people operated- who was Hindu, who Muslim, African, Catholic, Jew, etc was not their pre- occupation. RAKTI collaborates with one of the common resource of the past- Pleasure. Pleasure seeking in our times translates to only the sensual, but life for everyone was pursuit in pleasure. Teasing our senses, with the sounds, sights, smells of the times when pleasure was our closest ally, RAKTI is a multisensorial experiential evening of Music, Dance, Poetry, Adaab and much more. Multiculturalism is at the heart of this work which stems from my years of research on the Performing Traditions of the Early Modern Deccani Era. Curated by the arts leader @chandrangeeta for @serendipityartsfestival, Rakti has a stunning ensemble @anjanarajagopalan_musician led by being the music composer n vocalist on the project, Oud n Kemence by @bonny_kalappurackal @_.meissam._ @rsriganesh @srikrishnan48 and my co artistes @padmaaaaaaaaaaa @niiviiravii @b_charles_official @radhikaganesh @maliniganesh @anuragdocu @vetri_artist the visual, oral, sensorial live works is our team effort. Presenting to a FULL HOUSE was Our PLEASURE ! Happy New Year and Rakti to all❤️

Swarnamalya Instagram - When our minds meet, our hearts melt. A lifetime’s opportunity to cross the border and see the land that holds so many memories, painful, tearful, yet full of hope and resilience- Lahore invited me, I knew this year is special. To speak at the opening of the FAIZ Festival 2024 on behalf of the Indian delegation, to share stage with Salima ji, daughter of Faiz Saab and to perform at the historic Alhambra hall, the very same space in which Iqbal Bano had sung Faiz Saab’s Hum Dekhenge in the 70s, to take the same Nazm in Tamil to an awakened audience who not only gave a lasting standing ovation to Sadir but were moved to tears along with me, and to experience the love of Lahore’s poetry, mushairas, qawwali, Abida ji’s Sufi Kalams, Lahori food, and above all the love and warmth of the people of Lahore. 2024 February is historic in my life. Thoughts about boundaries and borders, identities and struggles- but most importantly about love, peace, harmony and hope. Faiz Saab lives in the hearts of the city of Lahore. And you can see his warmth in the hug of Moneeza ji his daughter to me. Also in one of the pics is Nawabzada Asfandyar ji who is a Bharatanatyam dancer of Pakistan whom I had invited to join me briefly on the stage, along with my dearest friend Arvinder Chamak Saab. So many friendships and so many lives shared ❤️here is to more

Swarnamalya Instagram - Here comes the first of the many episodes of my trip to the land whose mystery and myth abound us in India. The love and joy shared is the true crossing of rhetoric border…. What’s a border ? It can’t keep us apart. Watch on
Swarnamalya Instagram - RAKTI premiered by @swarnamalyag @serendipityartsfestival was a brilliantly crafted performance that threw out tags and labels far outside the window. Teasing all the five senses, it was an experiential immersion. So happy that the house full audience shared the artist's pulse.

Swarnamalya Instagram - Multi genre Independent & Eclectic repertoire concert for ‘Textures of Traditions’ cultural festival with @mattbaconmusic

Such a beautiful space was created for us by @swarnamalyag & @radhikaganesh and the entire team of @texturesoftraditions to present music that’s unheard of and of themes that are very close to my heart. It’s not often that as a musician one comes by such a welcoming space & brilliant audience, and I’m so grateful to Swarnamalya & Radhika to have enabled this! An hour just rolled by seamlessly and timelessly. It goes down as one of the most fulfilling concerts I’ve done :)

Thank you for the beautiful moments captured @simmz_portraits ! :)

Swarnamalya Instagram - Him Dekhenge- Naam Paarpome- speaking truth to power. Faiz Saab’s hope for a tomorrow, a new dawn, lends itself to all moments in history where truth to power needs to be spoken. A song of revolution, a song of resistance and a song of hope. When I introduced it as the translation by Mangai Arasu and Ponni, brought to life by @anjanarajagopalan_musician and Bindu I was so proud that they were the wind beneath my wings to take this song of resistance to his place of origin in a language of revolution- Tamil. I requested a Pakistani artiste Nawabzada Asfandyar to join me in stage as a way to embody two dancers, from India and Pakistan, sharing stage, sharing art as a strong message of togetherness and harmony - the tomorrow that we all want. Activist Beena Sarwar and many diplomats in the audience realised the power of the moment. And also see how young Pakistani girls speak of the impact of this moment. A full circle. In my years of being a dancer and researcher creating work on multiculturalism -and interfaith harmony, this day was a summary of the journey thus far, and miles to go before I sleep.

Swarnamalya - 363 Likes - When our minds meet, our hearts melt.

Swarnamalya - 335 Likes - RAKTI premiered by @swarnamalyag @serendipityartsfestival was a brilliantly crafted performance that threw out tags and labels far outside the window. Teasing all the five senses, it was an experiential immersion. So happy that the house full audience shared the artist's pulse.
