Aakansha Monga Instagram – How much time do you spend on social media?
Many of us spend 7-10 hours on social media, and if you’re a Gen Z, this might not even sound problematic to you; in fact, it is TOTALLY NORMAL.
While it’s true that social media can consume a significant portion of our day, it’s also an incredible tool that connects us with the world, helps us stay informed, and allows us to share our stories and passions.
However, it’s important to find a balance. Our ability to focus on meaningful tasks, recognize and work on our potential, and engage in purposeful activities can be compromised if we let social media take over our lives mindlessly.
The average screen time of an adult is 7 hours; that’s 49 hours a week, 210 hours a month, 2,555 hours a year, and if you live up to, let’s say, 70 years, which is the average lifespan of a human, then you’ve spent around one-third of your life on social media.
Throwing your phone away or deleting social media is not the solution because tech is only getting better. The greatest skill of the 21st century is to learn to live with social media in a balanced and intentional way. It’s not the platform itself that’s the problem, but how we use it.
Your mindlessness and lack of intentionality are your biggest enemies, not your phone. Embrace social media for its benefits, but remember to use it mindfully and with purpose.
