I moved to Indonesia when I was two and lived there until I was fourteen. I loved living there and have always wanted to go back with my own family and I’m so thankful we finally got to go! I was pretty emotional when we landed. So many memories of my childhood, so many of which included my Dad. I wish we could have stayed longer but I’ll just have to go back! Here are some photos from our first stop… Sumba Island. 1. Our first day at @nihi . Such a beautiful place. Terima kasih to Doris and Maxy and all the folks there for taking such good care of us! We loved getting to know you all! 2. A vehicle that comes with coconut cup holders, yes please! 3. Evening walk at Nio Beach with my fella. 4. Oh hello… 🐉. 5. My favorite Kerupuk & Nasi Goreng! 6. Rua Beach. 7. Loved that we all watched the sunsets together! 8. Amazing pink bougainvillea (How did they shape it like this? I loved it! I think I took a picture of it every day. ) 9. Favorite hiking buddy. This was an hour and half trek so you know I got my steps in that day! 10. The color of the ocean is so beautiful. 11. Dad & me in Indonesia in the 70’s! 🩷 More of our trip in my next post. I took so many pictures!

I have so many pictures from our trip to Singapore here are just a few! We had such a great time there! Growing up in Jakarta, my parents had friends in Singapore so we went there a lot. I had many wonderful memories from Singapore and being able to go back with my family was amazing! Here you go… 1. The Southern Ridges (and yes that is a bucket hat that says Singapore that I bought as we started the walk because I forgot my hat that day.) 2. Gardens by the Bay. Beautiful! 3. A lady who loves plants. Cloud Forest, you were my happy place. 4. Watched a few sunrises because… jet lag. 5. Our kids in a big chair photo. (You know I’m a sucker for a big chair photo op. 😂) 6. & 7. More Cloud Forest by @gardensbythebay because it was just so cool! 8. Beautiful views from the cable car ride over the city. 9. Hit the pool at @fullertonbayhotelsg (we loved the location of our hotel and everyone was so nice and the breakfast was amazing) 10. Lau Pa Sat! Delicious! 11. Singapore Sling at @raffleshotelsingapore (adults got the real deal and it was so good… kids obviously got the non-alcoholic version and each table comes with a big bag of peanuts and you throw the shells on the floor.) 12. If you are still reading this then you know if I see hydrangeas that big, I have to snap a pic! ❤️ Singapore
Bali! ❤️ I was so excited to go back and share this special place with my family. Growing up in Jakarta, we went to Bali a lot so there were a few spots I knew I wanted the kids and Josh to see. I couldn’t get over how much had changed but also how some things were exactly as I remembered. Here are a few moments from our trip! 1. Waterfall! So many beautiful waterfalls and hikes in Bali. Go early and it’s less crowded. 2. From the minute we landed in Denpasar it was like a folder in my brain opened up and I started remembering so much of my Bahasa Indonesian! I was so excited to chat with everyone! 3. We stayed at @viceroybali in Ubud. Beautiful hotel and everyone was so wonderful! 4. Morning cup o’ tea before we started our adventures. 5. Josh, I love you. Thanks for helping make this dream trip come true for me! (This was our fancy dinner night at @aperitifbali . Delicious!) 6. Look happy am I to be the first one at the markets. And yes, I bought a tiny handmade basket. 7 & 8 Monkey Forest! 9. Just me in front of two doors but look how beautiful they are. The woodwork in Bali is just amazing. 10. Gorgeous view from a lunch spot at @d.alas_warung 11. Me in Bali in my 20’s and me in the same spot at 53! Thank you for letting me share this trip with you all. It was so moving to go back to Indonesia. I loved growing up there. And thank you to everyone we met along the way for making us feel so welcomed! Terima kasih! Sampai jumpa lagi! ❤️ * I share more of our trip in my highlights.
