I can’t believe you’re really gone. This is Nathan Alan Standish. My first love. He is with the angels, now. — it was 2004, we did that photo shoot with my sisters down near South Pointe. We had been there for a few hours and I needed to refill the meters. We went together. I was a smitten kitten, but then we reached the parking lot. The sun was warm, the wind was coming off the point where all the big liners enter the harbor. I’m not sure what made you do it, but without a word, you reached over and laced your fingers with mine. I was beside myself, “What does this mean? Oh my god. He’s holding my hand!” It meant it wasn’t just me. It meant you felt it to. It meant you would be mine for the next four years, and that I would love you for the rest of my life. Yours is gone too soon, but I feel you when the tears won’t stop. I know you’re resting now.
