I have tried to write this for 3 days now and it’s been with a broken heart. So much more that needs to be said. So many thoughts and feelings, yet no words that can fully cover how I feel and what I want to say – I am, heartbroken, hurt and angry….
I knew Lazar from our encounters at European semis, his energy and happiness was truly contagious. He had so much life left to live.
I have broken down multiple times over this weekend knowing that he will not be out there with us again or in the arms of his loved ones.
Many times have I stood on the start line being scared of what was to come, telling myself “it’s only temporary whatever pain I will feel it is only temporary…”. I have found comfort in knowing that even if I would push past my limits somebody would be there to pull me out – nobody was there to pull Lazar out . The sport we all love failed Lazar and his family. I am so sorry Lazar.
