We wonder why we struggle to stay on track with our wellness goals, especially as we go into the Fall & Winter. This is why. The holidays are no longer just one day they are months on end. If you count the holidays between Oct & Jan there’s only 6 days, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve & New Years Day (Hanukkah for those who celebrate it as well).
6 days over a 3 month period. where you enjoy foods that you dont eat on a regular basis, 6 days where you’re off a plan is not going to wreck your progress or your goals. But 3 months of an “F’it” mentality will.
I get asked all the time how to deal with the F it mentality, how to resist when it’s there tempting you every time you go to a store or at the office. You have to decide what really matters most to you, feeling good, feeling vibrant & energetic, having your health or having the candy, dessert & alcohol. Once you make the decision that your health is your main goal, make all your choices based in the direction of achieving it. I’m not saying you can’t ever have it, but you can’t have it on a regular basis and expect to feel your best that’s just nature.
Don’t buy the candy
Don’t go to the grocery store hungry
Have a list for shopping & stick to it
Plan for the days you want to have a treat
Keep track of how often you’re doing it
Tap into your emotions if you find yourself constantly over indulging even when you know you have a strong reason not to. There’s usually something deeper going on than just a craving.
Have an accountability buddy to help keep you on track.
