Brandy Ledford Instagram – The cover story for this magazine spread holds a special place in my heart. During the photo shoot, I was thrown off a horse. The first photos of me in the denim and rhinestone gown on the blonde horse were taken before the incident. After that, I changed into a gold gown and mounted a different horse. Unfortunately, before we could get a single shot, the horse bucked and threw me off. I landed face down, with my feet slamming into the back of my head. The handlers gently laid me on my back, and I lay there in the grass, wondering if I was dead or paralyzed. As I started to wiggle my fingers and toes, I realized I wasn’t paralyzed.
When I was able to stand up, I felt immense gratitude for surviving the fall, though I was shaken to my core. Despite the scare, I decided to continue with the photo shoot. I didn’t come this far just to come this far. A whole team of people had shown up for this shoot, and since I wasn’t seriously injured, I wanted to keep going. We hadn’t gotten the key shot yet, so we continued for the next couple of hours. The photos you see are the result of that perseverance.
The miraculous part isn’t just that I got up and walked away; it’s that we landed on the cover of @offtownmagazine . I’ve been on the cover of many magazines, but never one like this. As a little girl, I dreamed of being a model. When I started submitting myself as a teenager, I was told I wasn’t skinny enough, too curvy, not tall enough, and didn’t have the right look. So, I found a style of modeling that worked for me—bikini, lingerie, and more sexy shoots. Then, I turned to acting, my true passion, and lived my dream in that field for a long time.
I could’ve quit when I fell. I could’ve called it a day and gone into self-pity. If I had been seriously injured, of course, it would have been different.
Two days after this shoot, my dad passed away making it one of the worst weeks of my life.. I’m on the other side of all that now.
