Little boy was half baked in these pics from our annual trip to NH this past July!
I remember this trip being so different from our past visits and having those memories to compare with ones newly forming is when I first truly felt pregnant!
I’m very into functional fitness, martial arts and other sports so when I rolled my ankle several times I kept thinking, “it must be my shoes” 😂. I’m usually not one to take a hand for balance but after stumbling so many times I realized accepting help offered would probably be best for the little one I’m cooking up.
I also remember getting used to a new dynamic I had with friends and family. We’re a competitive bunch who LOVE to play games into the wee hours of the night – I would put my hat in for typically being the most rambunctious! Although I was used to being tired at that point, seeing myself through the eyes of friends that look forward to going head to head in games of tact and cunning made me realize- I wasn’t just tired. I truly did not feel competitive. I didn’t feel like entertaining or making people laugh. Didn’t even feel like drinking! Being a loud, competitive gal who likes to drink and entertain people has kinda been my whole personality since I was sentient.
I’m not sad about being different right now, I’m content that I feel at peace and in tune with my instincts to rest. For me, entertaining or making people laugh is what I’ve always lived for, it’s breathing, it never really turns “off”.
During the time I’ve been pregnant, the energy I would normally give to others in bounty I instinctually reserve for myself… and I like that.
I was a different tired before pregnancy. Tired of spreading myself thin, of overcommitting, of pouring energy into people, ideas, projects that left me empty rather than whole. I actually remember being so exhausted that I was fantasizing about breaking my leg so I could get an excuse to shut everything out for a bit. It’s funny in a morbid way.
Thank you universe, I get to make legs instead of break them! You sure showed me 🙂
