Cecilia “CeCe” Peniston, emerging in November 1991, is an International House Music Legend and former beauty queen. In the early ’90s, she secured 5 Billboard Top 10 hits, with “Finally” reaching #5 on the Hot 100 and #2 in the UK Top 75.Â
Her collaborations with four-time GRAMMY® nominee Steve “Silk” Hurley yielded her 2nd single, “We Got a Love Thang”(Top 20 Pop, Top 10 U.K. National Chart) “Keep On Walkin’ & “I’m Not OverYou”(Gold & Top 10 R&B), “I’m In The Mood,” and “Searchin.” Another product of this duo is “He Loves Me 2” on the Silk Entertainment / S&S Chicago label.
With a vocal range of 5 to 7 octaves, Peniston quickly became globally recognized. She performed for Aretha Franklin, Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, and President Bill Clinton during his inauguration ceremonies. She was also the first foreign female entertainer to perform in post- apartheid South Africa.
Billboard listed Peniston among the 100 Top Dance Club Artists of All Time. In 2021, she topped the LGBTQ Urban Charts with “Whatchu On” by 2 AM Ricky. She has had several recent sync placements and an ABC News interview. With a career spanning over 30 years, she continues to perform worldwide, with a City Winery tour happening now.
