Danica McKellar Instagram – Today, July 30th, is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Sure, human trafficking is hard to think about, but that’s how something so horrific has been allowed to grow, right?

I used to think child trafficking only happened rarely and in faraway countries, but it’s everywhere! Let’s shine a light on this multi-billion dollar (and the fastest growing) criminal industry in the world. And child trafficking is happening right here in neighborhoods across the US, some hiding in plain sight. Just do an internet search for “child trafficking” and the name of your town. Yes, *your* town. Will you let me know in the comments if you do??

Awareness: Follow accounts like @a21 @uheroes @thorn @polarisproject @ourrescue @love146 @hopeforjusticeintl more, to become aware and familiar *over time* and to see the heroic work they’re doing – leave comments, periodically share their posts… they will appreciate your involvement! And learn the signs at ourrescue.org/training 👊

Volunteer: Foster kids without a positive force in their lives are *far* more likely to become victims of trafficking. I love how @americaskidsbelong helps kids get adopted. Check them out to see how you can support them! Becoming a child advocate for a foster child through a place like @casa.la is an incredible gift, as is mentoring a high-risk child through a program like @bgca_clubs or @bbbsamerica. These are the most valuable & heroic acts you could take, aside from actually becoming a foster/adoptive parent. ❤
