So proud of my miracle survivor boy & his first set of “wheels!”
Waylon got his first wheelchair in March…
And I just found this video our nanny captured of us trying it out for the first time.
I can still feel all of the emotions I was feeling when I look at my face here.
“You’re so brave!”
(I can’t believe my 4-year-old needs a wheelchair.
Be positive, Dawn!)
“This is so neat! It’s your first set of wheels, Waylon! Wow!”
(But he shouldn’t have ever needed a wheelchair – if not for child abuse.)
“This is so cool, Waylon!”
(But he does now and we have to roll with it. Pun intended☺️)
“Let’s go!!!”
I see allllll of those emotions in this short 12-second video.
And that is how we “roll” most of the time:
Joy…
Challenge…
Big little win…
Sadness…
Change…
More Joy…
PTSD…
Excitement…
Acceptance in what is…
Hope in what may be…
Peace.
I see all of those and more when I see this pep talk to my son.
And that’s just a snapshot from March.
12 seconds in the world of disability.
The joy. The challenges. The fears. The hopes.
All of it.
